HEATHER JONES-WATLEY, LMHCA
Heather is a Master’s level psychotherapist who enjoys working with children, adolescents, and their families. She believes in meeting the individual where they are while developing their strengths, helping them achieve their goals, and providing symptom management. She focuses on building rapport and provides unconditional positive regard and empathy to encourage growth through a positive therapeutic environment and relationship.
Heather incorporates mindfulness, self-regulation skills, and yoga to improve social interactions, anxiety and depression management, and encouragement of daily self-care. When working with children and adolescents, she sees the importance of including parents and caregivers in the treatment process to build the parent-child relationship and facilitate behavioral changes in the home.
Heather is trained in several models of evidence-based interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy. Furthermore, she has knowledge and experience with behavior modification, parenting effectiveness skills building, social skills building, executive functioning skills building, and positive communication skills building.
Heather earned her Master of Art from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology and holds a degree in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Counseling. In addition to working at Oaktree Guidance and Wellness, she serves as a behavior consultant for individuals with developmental disabilities, mental illness, and traumatic brain injuries.
